• What is ARMD?

  Age-related macular degeneration (AMD): the main cause of vision loss in people over 60 years of age. Little by little, it destroys the central vision needed to see objects clearly and perform common everyday tasks.

  Two clinically dry and wet types ARMD

  Dry DMAE characterized by aging and thinning of the macular tissues.

  It is found that a specific combination of vitamins and minerals reduces the risk of dry AMD progressing to wet AMD and the associated loss of vision.

  The wet ARMD begins when abnormal blood vessels grow beneath the macula that erodes the tissue. These fragile vessels will lose fluid and blood.

  Although only 10 to 15% of people with dry AMD progress to wet AMD, this form is much more serious for FFA, ICG, and OCT when assessing abnormal vasculature.

  Intravitreal injections of anti VEGF, photodynamic therapy and thermal laser are the treatment options available.
